If you're looking for a once in a lifetime opportunity to learn something not everyone gets a chance to, and are between the ages 14 and 18, then the Clever Fire Protection District Cadet Division is for you!!
Our commitment to excellence and community service will give you the chance to experience things that very few people get to in their lifetime. The training and opportunities will help you become ready for the challenges that lie ahead in everyday life.
When you sign up you will enter a 40-hour probation period, during which time you will train with the fire department staff and cadet division training leaders. After the 40-hour probation period, if you are over 16, you will be assigned fire gear, and will be allowed to run fire calls along with the rest of the fire department. With a few restrictions, of course.
For the parent's assurance, you will not be involved in any high risk or life threatening situations, or put in any situation that will cause serious illness to yourself or fellow cadets. You will help support the fire department and have the opportunity to train with the fire department on the same daily level as the advanced firefighters.
You might ask, "What guarantees that i will have fun?" The training you will receive will help you in every day life and may come in handy in a sticky situation later down the road. We pride ourselves in making the learning process fun and entertaining. We also have a few exciting field trips planned in the future .
Here is a list of some of the training you will be required to learn:
*Fire behavior
*Ground cover fire behavior
*History of the fire service
*Hydrant operations
*Traffic control
*Fire apparatus operations
*Basic first aid and CPR
*Storm spotting
*Incident management system
*There are many more classes and training sessions in which you can participate
Education is the area we concentrate on most. You must have at least a 2.5 grade point average every semester in high school and remain drug and alcohol free to remain a member of the cadet division. Your future is our future, We take education seriously.
You must remember this is strictly on a volunteer basis. You are only obligated to participate in the cadet meetings and finish your 40-hour probation period
After the probation period, you will be evaluated to determine if you meet the criteria of a cadet firefighter. Then you will be assigned the official Cadet title, along with firefighting gear. This will allow you to run fire calls along with the rest of the fire department. These meetings and training sessions are for your betterment as a person and also as a community member. Some community or volunteer service will allow you to use the fire department cadet division as a reference on a college application. All of this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, to see or become what peoples' dreams are made of. This experience may give you skills that can be used for a lifetime.
Stop by and take the time to show that you care, and help support your local community. You'll never know if you don't try!
